Our thoughts are turning now to all things lovey-dovey as Valentine’s Day approaches. This Fairytale Element Pack mini kit from Karen Stimson of Wool Sweater Street brings notions of ’stuff that dreams are made of”. This year I think I’ll try some layouts using this kind of stuff instead of heart elements.

I was talking to someone the other day who was embarassed because he felt ‘too old’ to like kids’ toys, and would collect them except for that. Told him to get over it and just go for it. This led to discussion of how the world had changed for us - once upon a time (for us) there were kids things and adults things and never the twain should meet. But now adults could cross the border and have kids things without much fuss unless it turned into some kind of over-eccentric horrible obsession.

We got to talking about how some great kids movies were clever because they had underlying themes that were relevant to adults - you know the ones that have the kids story in them but had things in them that adults would ‘get’ too - but they were entirely different notions (oh bla bla bla - a movie like Shrek for example).

This led to talk about how J K Rowling brought back to adults of our generation - fantasy/fairy tales with her Harry Potter work.

So yeah, Fairytale valentines for me this year.
